Not only is this against the rules here, it's frowned upon reddit-wide. We're all trying to help to the best of our abilities. And if someone is legitimately trying to help you but you're not getting the answer you want, please don't lash out at people, including the Ring rep. Focus on the subject, not the person making the point. Don't get too heated, don't start tossing ad hominem attacks at people. You leave the garage, and there is no motion, which should turn off after 5 minutes, but nothing happens.Simple. Since you cannot a delay built in to the automation main action, I changed the second automation to turn "ON" the lights when it stops detecting motion, and put a 5 minute auto-off on the same automation. You stand still for a moment to get something out of your pocket - lights out. You go into a corner where it can't see you - lights immediately off. So you are in the garage and bend down between the cars to pick something up - lights go off immediately. The problem is the second automation: You stop moving, or "disappear" from the sensor's field of view, for any length of time and the lights go out. The lights go on when someone goes out into the garage. The second automation was "When No Motion is detected in Garage", which is defined as "Garage sensor" - Stops detecting motion - turn off the light (set tha Light to off).īoth of the above automations work. I originally set up 2 automations: One detects motion and turns on the light. My goal is to have the lights turn on automatically when the motion sensor is triggered, and then turn off automatically when no one is out there, which I have defined as 5 minutes after the last motion was detected. I can manually turn the lights on and off using the Home app. I also have some ceiling lights in the garage on a Lutron Caseta switch that is enabled in HomeKit. It is being "controlled by HomeKit" and not the Hue app. I have a Philips Hue motion sensor in my garage.
